Authentic Thakali dal bhat served the traditional way — on a brass plate with unlimited refills. This family-run restaurant near Durbar Marg has been serving the same recipes for three generations. The mutton curry and gundruk ko jhol are not to be missed. Simple decor, incredible food.

The Old House is magical. Sitting on the rooftop terrace overlooking the ancient palace square while eating incredible Newari food — this is why you travel. The chatamari (Newari pizza) was the highlight of our Nepal food experience.
Best momos I had in three weeks in Nepal, and I tried them everywhere. The jhol momos are absolutely addictive. Very cheap, very fast, very delicious. Go early!
Watching the sunset over Phewa Lake from Lakeside Terrace was one of the most beautiful dining experiences of my life. The wood-fired pizza was surprisingly authentic for Nepal!
